Tutoring begins after school on Tuesdays and Fridays, from 3p.m. to 5p.m. Students who register will be assigned a room number where they will attend tutoring sessions. These opportunities to get support in classes and with exam preparation are open to all students. There are also tutoring opportunities for Regents and SAT prep which will be available soon. However, Regents practice books can be purchased in room 111.
“Peer tutoring provides an empathetic learning environment, as peer tutors can understand and relate to the struggles other students face,” says senior Rivkah Menses. There are many benefits to tutoring: tutors can get community service hours, and participants get support passing classes and exams. Peer tutors usually offer alternative approaches to teaching that might be more relatable to students.
“Students are more likely to teach each other better in ways that others might not understand,” senior Elsy Ixchop noted.
